Course content
Topics discussed: analysis of the relationship: Ancient Science and the East. Pythagoras and the sources of ancient mathematics. Eleatics and the problem of infinity. Classical models of ancient cosmos. Platon and theoretical foundations of mathematics. Philosophy of Nature in Aristotle's work. Medieval view of nature and man. Fates of ancient science programs in the Middle Ages. Renaissance conception of man. Philosophical assumptions of Cartesian science. Scientific program of Newton and Leibniz. Kant grounds of modern science. The problem of nature of science in the philosophy of the 19th and 20 century.

Studens will be able to contextualize science evolution into the cultural context of contemporary period. They will have comprehensive overview of cultural and scientific developments in the period from antiquity to the 20th century.
