Proust, Gide Birth of the avant-garde (Futurism, Cubism, Dadaism, Surrealism) Inter-war drama (Giraudoux, Cocteau, Anouilh) French existentialists (Sartre, Camus, de Beauvoir) The New Novel (Robbe-Grillet, Sarraute, Duras) Saint-Exupéry, Malraux Literature of French-speaking Belgium Literature of Quebec and Maghreb Contemporary French Literature (Houellebecq, Modiano)
