Course content
|
Structure and content of socio-economic geography and geography of governance. Methodology and techniques of socio-economic geography and geography of governance. Using cartographic writings of current authors. Using maps from Geoportal of the Czech Republic, GIS and its purpose in state and municipal governance. Theory of region. Homogeneous and nodal regions and their hierarchy. Regionalisation. Economic region. Administrative region. How does geographical space influence a process of forming of political, economical and administrative entities/structures. Basic info about the Czech Republic. Location of the Czech Republic and its significance. The governance development on our territories; NUTS systém; territorial and administrative organization at present time. Population growth in the Czech Republic, its structure and spatial distribution. Basic components and structure of settlement. Settlement structure development. Socio-economic and natural conditions influencing settlement structure. Central place theory (CPT). Confrontation of CPT with real space networking. Municipality classification. Rural and semirural municipalities. Concentration of the population to cities. Genesis of urban areas, function of cities. Spatial settlement systems. Economy of the Czech Republic: completed characteristic and its genesis in the context with EU and other areas. Raw materials ? an important factor of economy growth and development. Agriculture, forestry, water management in the Czech Republic in the context of natural conditions and sustainable development. Industry in the Czech Republic: regional structure of the Czech industry. Industrial hubs and regions, location factors. Inertial characteristics of the industrial development. Concentration and spatial diffusion of industry. Industrial sectors characteristics. Diffusion of innovation. Typology, growth in time, barriers for innovation. Transportation in the Czech Republic (communication networks, nodal points, segments of transportation and its significance). Toursim and recreation: assumption for location and regional structure. Regional structure of services and retail. The role of the market in formation of spatial systém of services.
