Course content
Urban geography, geographic research of a city Basic terms and definitions City and agglomeration, city and agglomeration models Factors with impact on spatial structure, social and economic development of cities (political-administrative, normative, technological, economic, social, cultural) Development and problems of inner city structure in context of urbanization processes Subjective perception of inner spatial city structure Basic approaches to interpretation of inner spatial city structure creation and its changes (social ecology, neoclassical, institutional and political-economic approaches) Transformation processes and their impact on inner spatial structure of cities (decay and revitalization of urban cores) Tools for regulation of development of cities Current problems of cities and possibilities for their solution: industry, services, tourism, transportation, environment, leisure time etc.). Strategic urban planning. City marketing. Additional information for students of so-called combined study form is available in Courseware.
