Course content
The course includes these items: - A definition of globalization and fundamental concepts. The emergence of the globalization process and its principal participants. Analysis of selected global issues on model examples (e.g. the dynamics of demographic growth and sustainability, human settlements and sustainable development, diseases, health and globalization trends in contemporary society, threats to the diversity of life on the Earth). - Index of human development, human rights, cultural differences. Human settlements and sustainable development. - Global diseases - HIV / AIDS. - Global migration within the context of Czech Republic. - Climate changes - causes, the status and prognosis of the development of the global problem. Media coverage and political aspects of the problem. Interpretation of the topic at school. Interdisciplinary context of the topic. - The definition of the concept ?sustainable development?. The origin, development and critical evaluation of the conception of sustainable development. Basic principles of sustainable development. Sustainable development indicators. Approaches to education of sustainable development. - Economic globalization - economic development at the turn of the 20th and 21th century and its close relationship to globalization, the role of transnational corporations and foreign investment in this development, the international production network, the role of a state in the background of economic globalization. - Modern-day changes in the society and in the world economy, the speed of progress in technology and communication (technology development and innovation as basic determinants of globalization, technology and economic transformation, technology virtually shrinking time and space, technological changes of the production, geography of innovation). - The role of science in sustainable development, promotion of education, education towards sustainable development. - The role of international organizations in the global world. - Europe and the world, the importance of the European Union (the development of European integration, geographic potential of the European Union and its application). - Czech Republic and globalization.

to consider and critically assess information sources related to global issues, with an effort to verify their credibility and veracity
to name, assess and consider the possible effects of global problems, directly affecting humans and as individual human beings (the problem of spreading diseases and drugs, the problem of poverty, terrorism, problems of illegal migration of people, etc.) on society (in global and regional perspective) and on individuals
to seek, identify and understand global changes and problems in the environment, try to understand and, to the extent possible, contribute to their non-deepening, consider possible strategies
