Course content
Subject content The first semester of the succeeding master programme ´illustration and graphic design´ creates a common base of the two main programmes of this branch: Illustration and Graphic Design. 1.-13. Setting the communication rules during the semester. Assigning the final work topics. Laying out a book, a magazine, a newspaper, a catalogue, a leaflet, an invitation card, a poster, a brochure, etc. Basics and developing skills while using typography and picture processing computer programmes. Matching image and type. Specific typographical rules for setting professional publications. Continuous creative work and consultations of the final work. Continuous creative work and consultations of the semester work. Examples of the seminar work topics: A children book cover design. A brochure or a catalogue design. An illustrated book. A poster based on drawing or painting. A book edition illustration and cover designs. A technical product manual design. Graphic design of a professional text.

learning outcomes
Student will dispose of a graphic designer skills for illustration, graphic adaptation and a bookbinding design (textbooks). In accordance with a given task, the student can make an analysis of the problematic, suggest more solution variants. He can then choose the most suitable one and implement it into the art work.
