Course content
Overview of topics: 1-2. The scientific nature of art history and its revision New Art History, 3-4. Classification of current methodological procedures from the position of art history as an art science discipline in its historical and theoretical definition, 5-6. artistic research, 7-8. Exemplary Art Research Studies, 9-10. Presentation of the development of the dissertation from a methodological point of view or from the position of artistic research.

Knowledge
To successfully master the subject, it is assumed that the student is able to: orient yourself in the basic terms of art history and theory, understand the development of the main artistic trends in a cultural-historical context, to distinguish basic methodological approaches in art disciplines.
Skills
In order to successfully master the subject, it is assumed that the student will be able to: work independently with professional literature in the field of art history and visual studies, formulate research questions in connection with one's own artistic creation or theory, reflect on the theoretical background of your dissertation project in the context of contemporary artistic or theoretical discourse.

Knowledge
After completing the course, the student demonstrates knowledge of: current methodological trends in the field of art history and their revisions (e.g. New Art History), basic principles and terminology associated with artistic research, theoretical frameworks for the contextualization of artistic and design work within the framework of research.
Skills
After completing the course, the student demonstrates the skills: apply methodological approaches of art disciplines to own research, analyze and interpret a work of art from the perspective of contemporary theory and methodology, present the methodological framework of the dissertation in the context of artistic research.
