Course content
1. Issue of teaching recent history: debatable and white spaces issues. 2. The issue of motivation of students: From knights to tanks, from dungeons to concentration camps. 3. Criminal ideologies in the 20th century: socialism, communism, fascism. Background and differences. 4. Anti-Semitism and racism I. The development and consequences until 1945. 5. Anti-Semitism and racism II. Contemporary sources and interpretations. 6. World wars: the battle of good and evil? 7. The Cold War and the unification of Europe. Development and other ways? 8. So-called. Third World ? Where does ?white man's guilt? finish ? What about ?political correctness?? 9. The collapse of communism, the end of history and the struggle of civilizations. 10. How to get along with teaching time? Does "irrelevant" history exist?

Knowledge
to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of facts and contexts of Czechoslovakian and general history of the 20th century at the level of bachelor study as a basic prerequisite for their interpretation and subsequent teaching
Skills
to solve the problems of the history of the 20th century, write a seminar paper or review a professional monograph, search for and evaluate web and multimedia resources.

Knowledge
Definition of changes in world politics caused by the results of the First World War. Clarification of the cause of the rise and implementation of extremist socialist and nationalist regimes (communism, national socialism, fascism). Description Soviet Bolshevik regime, its comparison with other totalitarian systems. Explanation of the so-called Cold War and the "divided world". The characteristics of the Soviet colonial empire, the methods of terror in the individual Communist-dominated countries, and compare them with developments in the Western world. Analyze the causes of global crises and explain their impact on current events. Define the important milestones of the 20th century world history
Skills
to find and use reliable sources of information for creative work, to analyze on their basis the origin and existence of dictatorial regimes in the 20th century, to teach, professionally and objectively to present their crimes and to place them in the historical development of the period under review, to write seminar work on a specific topic.
