Course content
Topics: Cultural development of the West Bohemian region; an overview of cultural and historical monuments of the region in a time sequence of artistic styles; the specific manifestations of the West Bohemian cultural; development of visual and literary arts. ;West Bohemia at the dawn of history; the colonization of the territory of West Bohemia; Romanesque style; Gothic culture of West Bohemia; West nobility and its settlements; medieval castles; monasteries in the region; West Bohemia during the Hussite movement; the art of the Late Gothic style and Renaissance humanism in the West Bohemian environment; recatholisation and spiritual development in the Baroque times, Baroque art and architecture, the National Revival period, the cultural dimension of the West Bohemian spa, western Bohemia in the 20th century.

learning outcomes
Students will acquire knowledge and understanding of the cultural development of the West Bohemian region. They can characterize various cultural and regional specifications. Students are able to detect and enumerate the artistic styles. They can describe the most important cultural monuments of the West Bohemia region.
