Course content
The content of the course will be key issues of world history of modern civilization: the emergence of modern society, the advent of new idology, wrestling absolutism and parliamentarism, nationalism, colonialism and imperial power trends, industrialization, and revolutionary turmoil and crisis in their socio-historical cross. Course program : 1. Introduction and organization studies. Absolutism and parliamentarism 2. English Revolution, Glorious Revolution (Britain in 1714) 3. France of Louis XIV. and European events of this period (1648-1715) 4. Northern and Eastern Europe in the second half of the 17th and in the 18th century 5. Ottoman Empire in the 17th and 18th century 6. Baroque culture 7. Habsburg monarchy in the years 1648-1792 8. The colonial expansion of European powers and the emergence and nonEuropian world 9.U.S.A. 10. Enlightenment and Classicism. Industrial Revolution 11. French Revolution 12. Napoleon and his time

Knowledge
the modern history of the 17th and 18th centuries in Europe and selected non-European areas. Learning outcomes of the course unit The student will describe and explain the basic problems of the European history of the modern period in the 17th and 18th centuries, will include them in social, political, economic and cultural contexts, will explain in detail the key events, will affect the basic chronology of world modernity.
Skills
historical argumentation, comparison of historical phenomena, application of historical knowledge in spoken written language, didactic applications of historical knowledge. Learning outcomes of the course unit The student will develop the basic chronology of the world's modern age, will be able to argue with the historical events of the modern period, to generalize and apply the acquired knowledge, and will focus on the basic literature on European modernity, both Czech and foreign.
