Course content
1. Post-war organization: Potsdam conference, the surrender of Japan. Distribution of the World: Soviet attempts expansion vs. Truman Doctrine and Marshahllův plan 2. The Cold War and the beginnings of Western European integration 3. Mao Communist reign of terror in China 4. The Middle East and the creation of the State of Israel, war in the Middle East 5. Berlin crisis and the formation of the Soviet colonial system in Europe 6. The Korean War 7. Khrushchev and alleged "thaw", Hungarian uprising, the second Berlin crisis, Cuban Missile Crisis 8. The processes of unification of Western Europe 9. The Vietnam War 10. Illusion of detente, Brandt's "Ostpolitik", Helsinki 11. Communist Genocide: Cambodia 12. The Eastern Europe in the 70s and 80s 13. End of the Cold War and the disintegration of the Soviet communist empire: Reagan and Gorbachev

Knowledge
to demonstrate knowledge of the development before the Second World War, especially the rise of totalitarian powers and authoritarian states, as well as the course and results of the Second World War, including the dual role of the Soviet Union - the allies of the Third Reich and later of the West.
Skills
understand the professional text, apply basic geographical and chronological skills - work with historical map, historical line, chronological table, search and interpret written, picture or multimedia source, both in physical and electronic form.

historical insight into the studied subject, the basic interpretative concept of the history of the world after the Second World War; important works of contemporary and contemporary historiography; the relationship between the formation and development of the contemporary world in post-war history.
