Course content
1. Czech lands during the First World War. Political and economic situation, Czech - German relations, domestic resistance, foreign resistance 2. The emergence of independent Czechoslovakia - assumptions and possibilities 3. Problems and problems of national minorities, especially German 4. The economy of the new state, the political system of the Czechoslovak Republic 5. Negativism in the Czech Way: The Communist Party of Czechoslovakia 6. Czechoslovak foreign policy 7. The World Economic Crisis and Czechoslovakia 8. Grasping power by Hitler and the Czechoslovak Germans 9. 1936 - 1938: Henlein, French betrayal, Munich agreement 10. The Second Republic: authoritative democracy? 11. Slovak Republic 1939 - 1945, 12. Imperial County Sudetenland 1938-1945 13. Domestic and foreign resistance, preparation of socialization of Czechoslovakia, Košice government program, conclusion of war on Czechoslovak territory

to demonstrate the knowledge of the development of the Central European region at least at the level of secondary school history, especially Austria-Hungary before and during the First World War, as well as basic orientation in contemporary world events

Knowledge
the circumstances of the emergence of a separate state not only as a result of the loss of Central Powers. It will describe the national and social issues of the Czechoslovak Republic as a significant factor of further development. It analyzes the influence of negative political parties (DNP, DNSAP, SdP, KSČ). It compares development in Czechoslovakia with other Central European states. It will define the possibilities of Czechoslovak foreign policy in the 1920s and 1930s and in the period around the Munich crisis. Explain the different interpretation of the so-called Second Republic in Czech historiography and compare the Communist evaluation of the First Republic with the facts. It will evaluate the consequences of the Second World War for the further existence and political direction of Czechoslovakia

historical argumentation, comparison of historical phenomena, application of historical knowledge in spoken written language, didactic applications of historical knowledge. Learning outcomes of the course unit The student will work on the basic chronology of Czechoslovak history in the first half of the 20th century, will be able to argue with the historical events of the modern period, to generalize and apply the acquired knowledge, and will focus on the basic literature on Czech and Czechoslovak history.
