Course content
Various methodological aspects of grasping the problems of music history are discussed and reflected in the teaching. Special attention is paid to new methodological impulses in music and general historiography of the second half of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century. 1. 2. The student will be able to work independently analytically with the studied literature and evaluate it from a methodological point of view. 3. The doctoral student is able to think critically and form his/her own conclusions regarding particular sections of a given thematic area.

  • Presentation preparation (report) (1-10) - 210 hours per semester

Knowledge
Describe the major epochs of cultural and general history. Explain the main principles of the epochs of cultural history and their interdisciplinary overlaps. Describe the main style features of the epochs of cultural history. Working with professional literature.
Skills
Chronologically classify basic developmental social stages and assign significant Czech and world composing personalities to the epoch of musical history at the level of bachelor study. Focus on professional literature
Competences
He is oriented in the field of contemporary music theory and is able to conceptualize the topic of his dissertation also in a music theoretical and music historical context.

Knowledge
The student will gain a basic overview of methodological approaches to the history of music and their origins.
Skills
The student is able to analyze independently the studied literature and evaluate it from a methodological point of view. The PhD student can think critically and make his / her own conclusions regarding individual sections of the given thematic area.
