Course content
The music of early and evolving romanticism (the first half of the 19th century). Czech music of the first half of the 19th century (1810-1860). Music of Neo-Romanticism (about the second half of the 19th century). Czech music of the second half of the 19th century (1860-1890). Music of the late 19th century - late romanticism. Italian opera verismus. Music of Impressionism (turn of 19th - 20th century).

Describe the major epochs of cultural and general history Explain the main principles of the epochs of cultural history Describe the main style features of the epochs of cultural history To name and date correctly the main developmental epochs of 19th century European and Czech music history. Specify the main musical style features of the 1800-1900 period. Name the main composing personalities of the 1800-1900 period

Knowledge
To perceive and interpret a musical work in the context of historical, aesthetic, informative, formative and social reflections in the continuity of musical development.
Defining musical culture and musical historiography.
Explain the concept of a music epoch.
To characterize and to put the individual epochs of the development of Czech and world music in the period 1800-1900.
Specify and formulate developmental differences and shifts within individual stylistic epochs between 1800-1900.
Describe the compositional style of the main composers of the years 1800-1900.
Skills
To independently analyze and interpret selected musical work.
Select the selected musical art historically, determine its musical form.
Defend assignment of the selected work to the corresponding development epoch.
On a concrete example, it is possible to recognize and characterize the distinctive features of the music of individual developmental epochs in the period 1800-1900.
