Course content
1. The French Revolution 2. The rise and fall of the regime of Napoleon I. 3. The Congress of Vienna 1814-1815; Revolutions of the 1820s and 1830s 4. Latin America - development on the road to independence 5. Internal political development in France and Great Britain after the Napoleonic wars 6. Revolutions 1848/1849 - assumptions, course, consequences 7. Selected problems of non-European development - Opium Wars and the Taiping Rebellion in China. The Indian Rebellion of 1857 8. Crimean War - twists in the development of the Eastern question 9. Unification of Italy - assumptions, context, consequences 10. Development in the German Confederation and the way to the unification of Germany 11. Development of the United States from independence to civil war. Causes, course and consequences of civil war 12. Meiji Restoration and reforms in Japan 13. Basic problems of the development of international relations in the years 1871-1914 (including colonial politics of great powers)
