Course content
Casting: Types of cast moulds and form equipment. Formative masses. Production of cast moulds and cores (manual, mechanical and non-conventional methods). Casting of these forms and their mechanical stress. Process of solidification and cooling of casts.Technological construction of castings. Forging: Physical charakter and mechanism of plastic deformation. Mechanical schemes of deformation. Basic principles of plastic deformation.Derivation of deformation speed, deformation resistence, deformation strength and work. Influence of temperature on plastic properties of materials. Hot forging, cold forging. Welding: Weldability and influencing factors. Methods of evaluation of weldability.Thermal influence on basic material. Fusion and pressure welding - individual methods. Special technologie sof welding. Thermal process of weldments. Soldering and thermal division of material.

Knowledge
Familiar with the content and use of phase diagrams with a focus on iron-carbon binary phase diagram. Understand structural phases in steels.
Skills
Drawing a process diagram. Construct a graph. Prepare course projects in an appropriate graphical format.

Describe basic casting, forming and welding processes. Understand physical and chemical principles of manufacturing processes. Characterize the effect of a manufacturing process on the structure and mechanical properties of a product.

Design a manufacturing route for making a cast part and a forged part. Conduct an analysis of a moulding mixture.
