Course content
The course focuses on the following areas: methods of failure analysis, defects of castings and forgings, defects created during heat treatment and welding and during surface coating, diagnostic methods, causes of defects, propagation of defects.

Lecture with practical applications, Laboratory work
  • Contact hours - 20 hours per semester
  • Practical training (number of hours) - 20 hours per semester
  • Presentation preparation (report) (1-10) - 3 hours per semester
  • Preparation for comprehensive test (10-40) - 20 hours per semester
  • Preparation for an examination (30-60) - 40 hours per semester

find connections among a larger number of consequences of manufacturing technologies and findings from materials characterization methods be able to interpret metallographic findings and draw conclusions have understanding of results of mechanical testing, metallographic and fractographic examinations and other techniques of materials characterization
