Course content
1-2. Historical Overview of German Settlement in the Czech Lands with an Emphasis on Western Bohemia 3. Issues of New Settlement in the Borderlands, the Identity of Current Inhabitants (with Specific Cases from Western Bohemia) 4. Changes in the Attitudes of the Czech Population towards Expulsion and Sudeten German Culture from the 1950s to the Present 5. Czech and Sudeten German Societies Preserving "Sites of Memory" in Western Bohemia, Their Activities, and Interactions 6. A Walk through Locations Associated with the Activities of German Educational, Cultural, and Sports Institutions in Pilsen 7. German Names of Western Bohemian Cities, Towns, Rivers, Mountains, and Ranges 8-9. Dialects, Ethnography, and Folklore of the German Population in Western Bohemia 10. The So-called "Heimatstil" in Regional Literature, Architecture, and Visual Arts in Western Bohemia 11-12. Notable German Personalities from Western Bohemia (Presentation of Seminar Papers) 13. Conclusion and Course Evaluation
