Course content
1. Germans in ancient times and early middle ages 2. The Holy Roman Empire 3. House of Habsburg - Austrian profit and loss of Switzerland 4. The reformation and the German Peasants' War; Thirty Years War and its consequences 5. Power onset of Prussia; enlightened absolutism 6. Wars with Napoleon; "Spring of Nations"; Austro-Prussian rivalry 7. The unification of Germany; Austria-Hungary establishment 8. The causes and consequences of the WWI; the Weimar Republic and Austria between the wars 9. The Third Reich; post-war changes and denazification 10. FRG and GDR 11. Switzerland in modern times; post-war period of Austria 12. The fall of the Berlin Wall; reunion of Germany, current political and social issues
