Course content
Introduction. Specialized preoperative preparation for planned operations (eg. A patient with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, lung disease, immunosuppression) and urgent surgical operations (eg. Acute abdomen, polytrauma). Characteristics of postoperative complications (complications of surgical wound complications respiratory, circulatory, in the gastrointestinal tract, vascular, urological, complications involving the CNS and peripheral nerve pain, abnormal body temperature, nosocomial infections). Monitoring postoperative patient, monitoring pain, mental changes. Physical examination nurse nursing intervention plan, schedule of barrier nursing care, education in the regime measures. Nursing care for patients with lesions in the skin and tissue integrity, classification of surgical and chronic wounds (using rating scales). Factors influencing wound healing. The principle of treating chronic wounds (wound bed sanitation, promotion of wound healing), suitable choice of dressings. Prevention of bedsores, pressure sores. Monitoring and evaluation of basic life functions and disorders of the internal environment. Nutritional screening. Pharmacology of drugs used in the failure of vital functions. Haemotherapy. Postoperative response organism. Nursing care of the patient at the failure of basic life functions. Basic and advanced life support, indication, basic procedures. Rehabilitation treatment for patients before and after surgery. Preoperative preparation in physical activity after surgery (active and passive rehabilitation). Utilization of rehabilitation techniques in the prevention of postoperative complications Specifics of nursing care before and after surgery with regard to the patient's age.
