Course content
Specifics of patient care in pre-hospital emergency care and hospital emergency and intensive care. Medical documentation in PNP, intensive and resuscitation care, instrumentation and equipment in intensive care. Basic examination and care of the acutely life-threatened patient. Comprehensive care of the patient in intensive and critical care, prevention of complications. Specifics of care of the patient with circulatory failure - acute and chronic heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, massive bleeding, basic knowledge of ECG. Specifics of care for the stroke patient. Specifics of CPR in neonates, infants and older children. Intoxication - specifics of patient care after intoxication, first aid for intoxication. Shock, sepsis, multi-organ failure. Basic knowledge and skills of the NLZP in mass disability of persons. Specifics of care and first aid for a patient with pneumothorax. Specifics of care and first aid in patients with thermal injury. Fundamentals of anesthesia and analgosedation in intensive care and resuscitation. Specifics of care and first aid in patients with Crush syndrome. First aid and specifics of care after drowning.

The student identifies the symptoms indicating a disease in emergency and intensive care, explains the etiology of the disease, describes the basic provision of life-threatened patients, plans and evaluates the effectiveness of nursing interventions, plans the preparation of the patient prior to diagnostic, interventional or surgical procedures, is oriented in the basic pharmacology of diseases in emergency, intensive and resuscitation care.
Skills
The student is able to provide adequate first aid for life-threatening conditions, provide nursing care in the form of nursing process for patients with diseases in emergency, intensive and resuscitation care.

The graduate of the course will be proficient in selected specific interventions required for the basic care of acutely life-threatened patients. The graduate of the course will master the nursing care of patients with failure or failure of basic life functions, with their support or replacement. The graduate of the course will be familiar with the basic procedures and techniques of general and local anaesthesia and analgesia. The graduate of the course will be proficient in selected procedures associated with intensive, resuscitation and pre-hospital emergency care.
