Course content
Topics: 1. Introduction to disability studies. 2. Definition and classification of disability in historical retrospective. 3. Strategic documents of the European Union and the Czech Republic in the context of disability. 4. Human rights, discrimination, role of self-help groups. 5. UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, content, implementation, monitoring. 6. Analysis of possible discriminatory situations, position of a disabled person. 7. Social security, insurance and non-insurance batch systems. 8. Accessibility of buildings and buildings. 9. Accessibility of transport and information.

Learning activities and teaching methods
  • Contact hours - 39 hours per semester
  • Individual project (40) - 30 hours per semester
  • Presentation preparation (report) (1-10) - 10 hours per semester
  • Preparation for comprehensive test (10-40) - 25 hours per semester

Knowledge
Student is able to describe ethical aspects of the work with people with disabilities.
Skills
Student can apply theoretical knowledge from the fields of human biology and the basics of social sciences in the scope of the secondary school curriculum.
learning outcomes
Knowledge
The student is able to prepare, present and justify strategic and legal background of social inclusion of people with disabilities in the areas covered by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, 2006 from the point of view of education, social services and social work.
Skills
Student is able to prepare and defend a project aimed at making the environment accessible in a particular area, and on the basis of equal rights and opportunities.
