Course content
1. Social pedagogy - definition of subject, relation to other fields, discipline development, current issues and tasks of social pedagogy, role and role of social pedagogue in school and other educational institutions. 2. Assistance and helping professions - Characteristics and function of assisting institutions, personality of the assisting worker, direct and non-direct ways of intervention and aid systems. 3. Environment as socio-pedagogical agent - characteristics, environment typology, influence of environment on child development, analysis of family environment and peer groups. 4. School as an institutional environment including topical issues of school management (current school legislation), school and family cooperation, school collaboration with social institutes (eg OSPOD), non-profit sector, 5. Analysis of the family environment and its influence on the personality of the child (functional, dysfunctional and affective types of family, problem-burdened families), institutes of institutional education, alternative forms of family education. 6. Socio-educational influence in solving crisis situations - classification of situations, solution techniques, prevention area and possibilities of social assistance. 7. Issues of leisure and lifestyle of children. 8. Socially educational activities in minority groups, children at risk of socially pathological phenomena, risk behaviors, system of prevention, social assistance and therapy. 9. - 10. Lectures, workshops of practitioners (from the state and non-profit sectors). 11. - 13. Final colloquium - presentation and defense of the seminar work, joint discussion and reflection.

Learning activities and teaching methods
  • Contact hours - 26 hours per semester
  • Presentation preparation (report) (1-10) - 10 hours per semester
  • Preparation for an examination (30-60) - 20 hours per semester

to orientate themselves in the basic pedagogical terminology, especially in the area of general pedagogy and the theory of education to define basic pedagogical concepts and categories, illustrate and explain them on concrete examples of pedagogical practice

to define and explain the elementary socio-educational terms: socialization, social conditions of education, classification of risky behavior, to introduce and explain the current problems of social pedagogy to introduce the system of help and leadership in the risk behavior of children

to reflect the key issues of social pedagogy to evaluate the social situations to use and apply appropriate techniques and procedures to solve the difficult situations in children life to use appropriate preventive measures (preventive programs) to eliminate a risky behavior of children
