Course content
1. Introduction to pedagogical and psychological counseling. 2. Basic definition of the field. 3. Counseling theory. 4. Phases of the counseling process and its methods. 5. Diagnostics of school maturity, the immature child approach. 6. Counseling interaction. Specifics of children with epilepsy in school environment. 7. Counseling approach to children with mental retardation and school failing pupils. 8. Specific learning disabilities, ADHD: diagnostics, counseling. 9. Counseling approach to children with behavioral disabilities. 10. Bullying problems in schools and its solving. 11. Counseling approach to gifted children. 12. Counseling approach to neurotic children. 13. Counseling approach to children of incomplete and functionless families.

  • Presentation preparation (report) (1-10) - 10 hours per semester

Knowledge
The knowledge of terminology of General, Developmental and Social Psychology, and a good orientation in Abnormal Psychology and Psychodiagnostics.
learning outcomes
Students are able to: - orientate themselves well in particular phases and methods of counseling; - suitably apply diagnostic methods within a work with problematic children; - control specific forms of work with school failing pupils; - choose the appropriate approach to gifted children; - adequately apply the diagnostics and counseling approach to children with learning disability.
