Course content
1. Introduction to the study of psychology. 2. The subject, aim, and the significance of psychology for midwife. The most used methods in psychology. 3. Use of psychological terminology in practice. 4. Mental processes and states (sensory processes, perception, memory, imagination, creativity, cognition, language, attention). 5. Emotional and voluntary process (emotions and will). 6. Basic theories of personality psychology. 7. Determinants of personality development (biological, social). 8. Personality structure (a character structure, temperament, properties of personality, self-regulating properties of personality). 9. Managing demanding life situations (stress, frustration, deprivation, conflict). 10. Midwife's personality (basic expectations in the context of successful work performance).

  • Preparation for comprehensive test (10-40) - 20 hours per semester

Knowledge
Basic terminology of General Psychology within the scope of secondary schools.
Skills
On successful completion of this course it is expected that students will be familiar with some of the major topics in psychology and be able to demonstrate knowledge of theory and research related to these topics. It is also expected that students will be able to communicate about behaviour and mental processes in a format acceptable for psychological writing.
