Course content
Definition of health - 3 types" holistic, humanistic, actual (biological, psychological, social and existential health. Definition of illness - cognitive and executive functions in illness, affective system in illness. Pain in human life - definition of pain, pain threshold, pain intensity, etiology and agravation of pain behavior, description of pain behavior in types A, B, C, D Child. illness and pain -experiencing pain in child developmental stages, motivation for treatment and rehabilitation, boys and girls in illness. Women and men, illness and pain - specifics of experience Old age, illness and pain - specifics of experiencing. Human needs - their non/satisfaction and impact on the course of a person's illness, the importance of feeling a sense of 'life' in chronic illness Stress, frustration and deprivation in relation to illness and pain, stress and the immune system. Communication with the patient and family - verbal communication Communication with the patient and family - non-verbal communication Communication with patient I.- with physical disability Communication with patient II - with mental illness Communication with patient III.- mental limitation

Interactive lecture
  • Contact hours - 33 hours per semester

Knowledge
The student will explain the specifics of the psychological approach to patients and the disabled in different age periods, define and describe mental and behavioral disorders, characterize the issue of disability and the specifics of the approach, define and describe the issue of burnout.
Skills
The student applies appropriate approach to patients with regard to their disability, applies appropriate approach to the patient or patient with respect to the patient's age, critically analyzes communication disorders with problem patients, self-reflection of performance in the role of a health care professional.
