Course content
1. The sociological perspectives. The development of sociological thinking. Man, society and nature. 2. Socialization. Sociological theories of socialization. Forms of socialization. Statuses and roles. 2. Gende and sex. Gender socialization and gender roles. Gender, life-cycle and health. 4. Sociology of family. Family as institution. Transformation of family and intimate life. New forms of families. 5. Methods and techniques of sociological research. Quantitative and qualitative research. The role of sociological research in the health care. 6. Sociology of health and illness. Develepment of the field. Sociology of medicine and sociology of medicine. 7. Concepts of health and illness. Sociological perspectives on health and illness. The model of sick role. 8. Hospital as organization. The role of doctor, nurse and midwife. The process of professionalization of midwifes. The development of the status of patiens. 9. The role of medical technologies. 10. Social aspects of pregnancy and childbirth.
