Course content
1. Introduction. 2. Impressionism, post-impressionism. 3. Fauvism, expressionism in Germany and Bohemia. 4. Cubism in France and Bohemia (painting, sculpture) 5. Way to abstraction: Kandinský, Kupka 6. Way to abstraction: Malevič, Mondrian 7. Beginnigns of modern architecture: Wright, Loos, Le Corbusier 8. Beginnings of modern architecture in Bohemia region: Kotěra, cubism, Plečnik. 9. Futurism, dadaism. 10. Surrealism in France and in Czechoslovakia. 11. Russian constructivism, functionalism, Bauhaus, Devětsil. 12. Marcel Duchamp, Henri Matisse. 13. Forms of figuration in painting and sculpture from the 20th to the 50th of 20th century: Picasso, Balthus, Bacon, Moore, Giacometti.

Knowledge
from the Baroque period to the end of the 19th century: to describe the development of art, to list the main centers of development and the main representatives of individual arts, characterize artistic movements (baroque, rococo, classicism ...), briefly describe the gradual development of sculpture, painting, architecture, describe the process of creation of a work of art in terms of technology (craft or art), describe the influence of technical progress on the development of art
Skills
identify a work of art by its time of origin and style, identify the main centers of development of individual styles, assign the main representatives, compare individual artistic directions, recognize the defining elements of the developmental stages of architecture, assign the characteristic elements of individual styles, describe theoretical concepts advocated in artistic practice

for the period from the 19th to the 1st half of the 20th century: to list the main streams and directions of art, to describe the circumstances of their origin and centers of development, to list the main representatives, to mention the schools or centers of influence, describe individual streams and directions: Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Fauvism, Expressionism (Czech and German), Cubism, Abstraction, Futurism, Dadaism, Surrealism, Russian Constructivism, Functionalism, Forms of Figuration enumerate and describe elements characteristic of individual directions and styles, describe examples of realization of these directions in the field of painting, sculpture, architecture, describe the process of creation of a work of art in terms of technology (craft or art)

declared in relation to the subject matter is able to: to identify and classify the elements used in various periods and styles to classify a work of art, according to the origin and style to evaluate the historical development of the relationship between the contracting authority, the artist and the social impact of the work to assess the impact of technological progress on the development of art roughly assess the relation between art and semiology to apply historical knowledge to the current situation and to her/his own creation
