Lectures: 01 - Historicism 02 - Biedermaier - Bent furniture (Thonet) 03 - Design reform - Arts and Crafts 04 - Art Nouveau (floral modernism) 05 - Geometric modernism 06 - Adolf Loos and the antithesis of Art Nouveau 07 - Cubism and Expressionism 08 - Between artistic craft and industry (Deutscher Werkbund, Wiener Werkstätte, Artěl, Krásná jizba, Union of Czechoslovak Art) 09 - National style - Decorativism - Art Deco 10 - Avant-garde: Neoplasticism, Purism, Constructivism 11 - Bauhaus 12 - Functionalism - Minimal living, Smallest apartment, Modern apartment, Residential landscape - Public interiors 13 - Field Trip Seminar: The content of the seminars will be: 1) presentation of selected topics supplementing and deepening the topics of the lectures and/or representing the current scene and subsequent discussion (each student will present one topic/personality/work during the semester) 2) discussion of topics from assigned texts 3) discussion of topics from screenings and documents 4) excursion and/or visit to the exhibition, permanent exhibitions of UPM, ZČM, NTM, etc. 5) extraordinary lecture by a visiting expert
