Course content
Weeks 1 - 13 - Symbols: understanding the basics of color symbols in our culture and their conditioning by Western / Christian culture, - Physics and Physiology: understanding how the resulting color emerges ( by photolysis, additive and subtraction blending) and how the eye recognizes it, - Aesthetics: identifying basic color contrasts according to Johannes Itten, - Aesthetics: knowing descriptive, light, space and expressive functions of color, - Analyzing the composition of the image considering symbolism and expressivity of colors - Explaining how, during the last millennium, the role of light and color in the picture has changed. Individual selection of two works of art of different eras. Analysis and interpretation of the artworks by comparing them with each other. Taking into account all the seven color contrasts, working with light, symbolism of light and color, spatial function of colors.

to provide basic knowledge of technical and technological procedures of different disciplines of visual art, to compare and analyze different artistic expressions by criteria of esthetics, semiotics and technique on basic level , to specify basic knowledge of supporting arts disciplines

to work systematically on either seminar work or own learning, to show interest in learning of theory of problematics usable in own practical work, to show own creativity on generally assigned task, to show the will to find different artistic solutions, alter them and constructivelly evaluate, to work independently and activelly and flexibly react to evaluating commentary of the teacher,

of basic sybmolism of colors in our cultural envirnoment and its dependance on western christian culture (symbolics), of creation of colors and ways of their recognition by eye (fyzics, fyziology), of descriptive, light, spacial and expressive function of color (aesthetics), of evolution and changes of functions of color and light in imagery,

to recognize basic color constrast by Johannes Iten (aesthetics), to analyze composition of an image based on symbolism and expressionism of colors, to use aquired knowledge about color, light and space in iwn creative process,
