Course content
FIRST PART 1. Introduction, characteristic and differences of Islamic Law. In general about Schools of Law 2. Origin and evolution of Islamic Law 3. Schools of Law and their founders,origin and diversity, their represenation in contemporary world. Person cAlim, mufti a qadi 4.-6. Sources of Islamic Law in general. Primary sources- Quraan, sunna, ijma and qijas. Secondary sources istihsan, istislah, maslaha and urf 7. Contemporary islamic law and law of islamic countries, issue of legislation in 20th century (codifications and constitutions) SECOND PART 8. Islamic state, conception, function and influence of Islam over state mechanisms 9. Brief excurcus into the constitution systems of selected countries 10.-11. The Islamic Law of Personal Status (al-ahwal ash-shachsia), general part of civil law, family law and law of succession, law of foundation and deed of gift 12. Criminal law

learning outcomes
Knowledge
Student have to gain knowledge of elements of islamic law, especially with his origin and sources. He will also understand the role of islam in (islamic) state and in modern constitutions and codifications of civil law. Alogside it will have a knowledge of the Islamic Law of Personal Status, which is a important part of Islamic law.
