Course content
1. Forensic medicine in history and present. History of forensic medicine in the world and in the Czech Republic. 2. Organization of forensic medical service in the Czech Republic. Structure and activities of institutes and departments of SL. Types of autopsies and their purpose. The role of forensic experts and expert opinions. 3. Death. Definitions and divisions. Postmortem changes in early, late, vital reactions and determining the time of death. Identification of persons from a forensic medical point of view. 4. Forensic medicine in criminal law and criminology. 5. Blunt injuries. Blunt object injury. Fall from above. Traffic accidents. 6. Sharp object injuries and gunshot wounds. Choking incl. drowning. Atmospheric pressure changes. Starvation. Electric current and radiation. Effects of low and high temperatures. 7. Forensic alcoholology and toxicology.
