Course content
1. Legacy of surrealism, birth of abstract expressionism in the United States. 2. Pop-art in Great Britain and the US. 3. New Realism and Fluxus. 4. Minimalism, land art. 5. Postmodernism, trends in public art. 6. Czech art after the 2nd world war - the legacy of the avantgarde. 7. Czech informel art and new figuration. 8. Czech art in the 1970s and 1980s, art in nature. 9. Czech art in the 1990s, public art. 10. Contemporary trends in Czech visual arts. 11. Institutions, galleries, iniciatives and journals focused on contemporary art. 12. Gallery excursion.

to name the most important artists from the 1960s to the present;
to characterize the work of the world's leading postwar artists;
to describe the development of Czech post-war art;

to describe current trends in contemporary world and Czech art;
to characterize the basic information platforms of the contemporary art - galleries, museums, contemporary art journals and institutions.

to situate an artwork in time with the aid of formal analysis;
to use the information gained from main platforms of contemporary Czech art - galleries, museums, contemporary art journals and institutions.
