1. The ancestors and the birth of Impresionism in France and its reception in Czech art 2. Post-Impressionism and Expressionist Trends in European Art 3. The beginnings of modern architecture in Europe, the main tendencies and leaders 4. The emergence of avant-garde art: fauvism, futurism, orphism 5. Cubism and abstraction 6. Dadaism and Surrealism 7. The origins of Czech avant-garde art, the question of modernity 8. Reflection of cubism in Czech art, Czech cubist architecture and applied art 9. Czech Surrealism and Arteficialism 10. Bauhaus and applied art 11. Czech Architecture between the two wars and Art in the Second World War 12. Theoretical reflection of modernism 13. Excursions to a museum or gallery - according to the thematic focus of the course
