- The Meaning and Methodology of the Theory of State Course, Relation to Constitutional Law Course. - Public Power, the Concept of Social Authority. - The Concept of State, Political Power, Conceptual Features of State. - Scope of State Activities, the Concept of State Functions. - The Concept of Forms of State, Supranational Systems, EU. - Internal Form of State, Separation of Powers, Form of Government, Form of Governance. - State and Autonomy, Territorial Autonomy. - Relationship between State and Natural Persons, Different Concepts, Classification of Rights and Freedoms. - State and Democracy, the Concept of Sovereignty of People. - Parliamentary Democracy, Direct Democracy. - Political Parties in the System of Democracy and their Relationship with State. - Electoral System and Voting Rights. - Organization of State, Vertical Structure of State, State Machinery. - The Concept of Public Authority, Legal Status of Public Authority, Power and Competence of Public Authority, State Machinery, Civil Service. - Procedural Basis of State Activities. - Legislative Activity of State. - Executive Activity of State. - Justice, the Concept of Judicial Power, Kinds of Justice. - State and Self-Government.

learning outcomes
Knowledge
The students will be able to - identify characteristic features of the state and its organization from the retrospective and recent point of view, - recognize reasons of the existence of public power and conditions of its justification, - identify role and position of the people in formation of the state and evaluate legitimacy for public power in relation to the will of the people, - classify, analyze and compare individual types of the organization of public power and also competency framework for state bodies, - differentiate between principal reference criteria of the assessment of the state and classify other states on the grounds, namely the Czech Republic, - analyze various concepts of relationships between the public power and people, recognize their various forms and aspects and evaluate the level of legitimacy of various state systems, - analyze the relationship between state and law, evaluate its different forms and the degree of legitimacy, - learn and use terminology and apply the knowledge of the Theory of State concepts to evaluate authentic phenomena and issues at global level.
Skills
představit fenomén státu v jeho historických i recentních podobách, analyzovat různá pojetí vztahů veřejné moci a obyvatelstva, rozpoznat jejich různé formy i aspekty a zhodnotit stupeň legitimity různých režimů, analyzovat vztah státu a práva, zhodnotit jeho diferencované podoby a stupeň legitimity , osvojit si a odpovídajícím, způsobem aplikovat odborný pojmový aparát předmětu a jeho pomocí na patřičné úrovni hodnotit aktuální jevy a situace v globálním měřítku, které spadají pod věcný rozsah oboru Státověda
