Course content
1. Literature of the High Middle Ages: Jan z Žatec (Oráč z Čech) 2. 19th century literature: Franz Grillparzer and Czech themes; Adalbert Stifter (Mountain Crystal); Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach (Municipal child) 3. Turn of the 19th and 20th centuries: Impressionism, symbolism - Rainer Maria Rilke (poems); decadence: Robert Musil (Inmate Törless's Confusion) 4. Daniela Hodrová: A novel of initiation; Otfried Preußler: Krabat 5. Prague German Literature: 3 generations, national and sociological characteristics; 'novel of initiation': Gustav Meyrink (Golem), Leo Perutz (On the Night Under the Stone Bridge), Oscar Baum 6. Prague Circle: Max Brod, Egon Erwin Kisch; Expressionism: Franz Werfel (No murderer, murdered is guilty) 7.
