Course content
1. Analysis of the text from the so-called preparation period of the literary Czech development. 2. Analysis of a chosen old Czech text focusing on the declination development. 3. Analysis of a chosen old Czech text focusing on the development of noun declination, especially on the category of gender. 4. Analysis of a chosen old Czech text focusing on the development of conjugation, especially on past tense forms of verbs. 5. Analysis of the text from a humanistic period. 6. The language of Baroque sermons. 7. The language of Baroque chronicles. 8. The language of the first and the second generation figures of the national revival. 9. Analysis of newspaper texts from the 18th and 19th centuries. 10. The language norm of chosen literary figures from the 19th century. 11. The language norm of chosen literary figures from the 20th century. 12. The vocabulary of chosen Czech writers from the 19th and 20th centuries. 13. Evaluation of the seminar outcomes.

learning outcomes
The students are able to read and explain chosen Czech texts of all the periods of historical development. The students are able to evaluate the language situation in different historical periods at the basis of language analysis. The students are able to explain the norm of contemporary literary Czech and understand the contemporary language situation as a result of historical development. The students master the basic historical language interpretation skills.
