This interdisciplinary course explores the concepts of peace, justice, and citizenship through literary texts from different linguistic, cultural, and historical traditions. Through contributions from lecturers in Roman studies, Croatian literature, and classical philology, students examine how literature reflects, challenges, and shapes understandings of social responsibility, conflict, identity, civic engagement, and ethical values across time. By engaging with texts from antiquity to the modern period, students develop critical approaches to literary interpretation while exploring literature as a space for dialogue on fundamental human and societal questions. The course encourages comparative perspectives, interdisciplinary thinking, and critical reflection on the role of literature in promoting peace, justice, and active citizenship.
