Course content
This course explores historical understandings and cultural perceptions of mental disorders through the lens of literature, examining representations of psychological conditions across different literary periods and traditions. Students will develop skills in the psychological analysis of literary characters and texts while critically engaging with the relationship between mental health, society, and literary expression. The course also fosters independent research skills through participation in discussions and quizzes, as well as the development of analytical and argumentative writing through literary essay composition.
