Key learning outcomes Graduates will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of political and social scientific terminology, current disciplinary trends, and principles applied in directing policy at all levels of government, specific actors participating on the political process, as well as of the values, rules and institutions operating in political space. Graduates will have deep knowledge of paradigms, approaches, theories and methods of political science, complemented by their deep knowledge of a specific empirical problem. Graduates will be able to research particular political and social environments, problems and political objectives from the point of view of general approaches and theories and they will have knowledge of the specificity of individual analytical approaches. Graduates will be able to select a suitable method for analysis of a particular problem within a political system and they will be able to use it profitably. Graduates will be able to combine and connect their knowledge of individual segments of political science, and they will be able to understand and reflect on the form and consequences of policies and approaches to social and political problems. Based on their experience with academic texts and official documents, graduates will be able to elaborate assessments and proposals concerning local, national or international political problems. Graduates will acquire sufficient cognitive skills concerning the different forms of politics so that they will be able to provide results leading to practical solutions of fundamental social and political problems.

Profile of the programme Political Science (MA) is designed as an academic programme. It consists of blocks of theoretically oriented courses from the areas of political science, development studies, and regional studies. The programme also includes courses focusing on the practical use of acquired theoretical knowledge and skills (the Applied Political Science sub-programme).

Occupational profiles of graduates with examples Graduates will be prepared for postgraduate study in related Ph.D. programmes and they will be able to find employment in areas requiring expert knowledge of contemporary issues of global, European and domestic politics. They will be prepared to assume positions of responsibility in public administration, diplomacy, in organizational structures of political parties and other political associations, foundations, national and international governmental and non-governmental organizations, in the media etc.
