Course content
Representation and mobilization of individual and group interests in democracy Definition of a political actor, typology of political actors Interest group - definition and functions of interest groups Social movement - definition and functions of social movements Typology of interest groups and social movements Systems of interest intermediation - pluralism and neo-corporativism Political party - the debate on the definition and functions of political parties Typology of political parties Party systems - definition and function Possibilities and limits of a typology of party systems Discussion of the role of civil society in contemporary democracy

independently interpret findings from different areas of political science
analyse the processes taking place in the Czech political system using knowledge of the characteristics of political actors and the institutional setting of the system

independently compile a comprehensive programme document of a political party or interest group on the basis of a specific assignment

on the basis of the analysis, identify the main characteristics of the system of intermediation of interests in a particular country
