Course content
During the lectures, the focus will be on specific features of various types of archaeological sites preserved in the current cultural landscape, documentation methods of the archaeological situations and the potential of knowledge of past and present societies based on archaeological sources. Lectures will be given to the distinctive features of each type of archaeological sites and the possibilities of their research, interpretation and protection. Students will become familiar with the course of archaeological research phases (pre-excavation and excavation) to its processing into finding report. There will be several field excursions to some of the ongoing archaeological research and conservation workplaces within the course.

learning outcomes
Students learn basic concepts of archeology: archaeological sources, archaeological transformations etc. They get an overview of basic paradigms that influenced the asking questions in archeology, learn the basics of the current legislation, archaeological theory and methodology. Students get an overview of the types of archaeological sites and possibilities of research, interpretation and protection.
