Reference and singular terms: sense and reference of proper names (G. Frege), definite descriptions (B. Russell, P. F. Strawson, K. Donnellan), cluster theory of proper names (J. Searle), rigid designators and possible worlds (S. Kripke). Semantics and syntax: picture theory of language (L. Wittgenstein), meaning and verification, analytic a synthetic sentences (R. Carnap, W. v. O. Quine), meaning and truth conditions (D. Davidson, A. Tarski). Semantics and pragmatics: meaning as using of words, language games and rules (L. Wittgenstein), constatives and performatives, locution, illocution, perlocution (J. L. Austin), speech acts (J. Searle), meaning and intentionality, conversational implicatures (P. Grice).
