1. What are theatre studies? Contemporary definitions of the field. 2. Post-dramatic theatre and plays Performance studies Theatre, staging and performance 3. New realism in contemporary theatre and theatre studies, a return to a traditional form of theatre 4. Changing paradigms in Czech theatre studies in the 1990s. Theatre as suffering. Theatre as a play of players. Theatre in the context of contemporary philosophy and thinking. 5. Theatre and anthropology. Symbol, myth, archetype (contemporary views of these issues) 6. The sociology of theatre. 7. Theatre as a game. 8. Semiotic interpretations of theatre in a contemporary context.
