Course content
Early considerations on the style development in plastic arts: Vasari. Wickelmann, Hegel. Elaboration of various concepts of the style development in plastic arts: Wölfflin, Riegl, Worringer, Focillon. Panofsky´s iconological method of interpretation of the work of plastic arts. Sociological approaches to the history of plastic arts: Francastel, Gehlen, Benjamin. Psychological approaches to the history of plastic arts: Gomrich. Philosophical concepts of the development of plastic arts and the end of history of art: Belting, Lyotard. Ontological status of the work of plastic arts: Ingarden, Pepper. The problem of truth in the work of plastic arts: Heidegger, Merleau-Ponty, Patočka, Dufrenne, Levinas, Lyotard.

learning outcomes
Students will learn to use basic aesthetic concepts and categories in the field of fine art. They will be well versed in the major philosophical and aesthetic views on the fine art. They learn to work with the philosophical and art history texts. They will be able to distinguish particular artistic genres and determine their specific.
