Course content
1. concepts of popular music, pop music, jazz, rock 2. origins of popular music, secular music, bourgeois culture, civilism 3. popular music, popular culture, media and show business, revolt and conformity 4. chanson, cabaret, café chantant and operetta 5. jazz, origins of jazz and developmental stages of traditional jazz, social status of jazz 5.1. modern jazz, jazz avant-garde and fusion, Black Panther Party 6. rock, the origins of rock music and the main developmental phases 6.1. rock and revolt, hippies, punk rock, art rock 7. selected personalities and phenomena of popular music, popular music in the Czech country

Knowledge
list the basic musical sources of jazz music; memorize the basic features of jazz music and describe the main stages of the development of jazz music; be familiar with the basic genres of popular music; be able to distinguish and identify the directions and stages of jazz and popular music also on the basis of listening;
Skills
describe the basic features of popular music; get to know the basic genres of popular music by listening; master the basic features of jazz music; get to know the individual stages of jazz music based on listening; to be able to distinguish quality music production in the field of popular music and jazz so that he can explain this issue to students at all levels of primary and secondary schools; to create an independent teaching plan so that it corresponds to the abilities of pupils at the 1st stage of primary school or children in kindergarten;
