Course content
1. Development in the Czech lands since 1648: Consequences of the Thirty Years´s War to political, economic, and religious life in the Czech lands 2. Characteristics of the reign of Leopold I., Joseph I., Charles VI. 3. Economic and social development in the 17th and 18th centuries. Mercantilism; physiocracy; improvement in manufacturing; aristocratic estates; patents for socage; bondsmen rebellion (1680, 1695) 4. Baroque civilization in the Czech lands / 1st part. 5. Baroque in the Czech lands / 2nd part. Rococo, Classicism, Empire style. 6. Enlightenment. Characteristics of the reign of Maria Theresa. First reforms; Austrian Succession's War; Seven Years War / 1st part. 7. Characteristics of the reign of Maria Theresa. Further reform; Austrian Succession´s War; Seven Years? War / 2nd Part. 8. Characteristics of the reign of Joseph II., Emperor Joseph's reforms. The period of Leopold II. 9. Characteristics of the reign of Franz I. Wars against France. Congress of Vienna, the Holy Alliance. 10. Origins of Czech national movement; emerging of a modern Czech nation; important personages; Bohemian institutions . 11. Forthcoming of Czech national movement (1815- 1848); important personages; Bohemian institutions. 12. Economic and social development within the first half of the 19th century. Industrial Revolution; improvement in agricultural production. 13. Final test.

to follow chronologically and methodologically the interpretation of history in the subject devoted to the Czech Middle Ages and Early Modernity.
