Welcome to a course that will take you through contemporary Europe in English! You will enjoy hours of language activities on European politics and culture, EU institutions and the current challenges of the European area. You will learn a wealth of useful vocabulary, improve your ability to discuss and present on topical issues, and practise your understanding of a wide range of material, from technical articles to interesting videos. Course annotation KAJ/AES1 -IS/STAG

The aim of the course is to develop the students´ability to understand a wide range of original texts related to contemporary Europe, with special focus of the European Union, its history, institutions and current challenges. The course is intended for the students of the stud programme International Relations - Territorial Studies and is taught in English. It is focused on the methods of reading specialized texts, their explication, understanding and use in practice. The seminars are dedicated to text analysis and building specialized English vocabulary. Simultaneously, the students´ability to discuss various European topics is developed. Students are encouraged to create presentations on relevant topics using multi-media technology.
