English for Angloamerican Studies 1

Welcome to the AOAA1 class! The class in general will be focused on expanding students' knowledge of current events and history of English speaking countries (namely the UK and USA) while improving English grammar and vocabulary. A significant part of the course will consist of analysis of chosen texts on specific issues and presentations carried out by students on selected topics dealing with the UK, USA and Czech Republic. These topics will then be followed by discussions.

Course annotation KAJ/AOAA1 -IS/STAG

The aim of the course is to make the student familiar with specialized texts used for the academic subject Interantional Relations - Anglo-American studies. The stress is put on correct reading and translation with a systemic revision of grammar and word-formation - the pronunciational background. The texts will cover not only British and American topics but also the wider Euroatlantic context.
