| The aim of this lecture is a summary description of the history, society and culture of ancient Babylon since the creation of the first state units in the 3rd millennium BCE until the fall of the Neo-Babylonian state in the 6th century BCE. Special attention will be paid to the contacts with neighboring areas of Babylonia as well as to the structure of the Babylonian state, the role of ruler, Babylonian laws, and the cultic sphere. |
